Theo Blankestijn

Theo Blankestijn (born in 1938) started to paint in 1955 fascinated by the elements of nature. He got his training in Haarlem and the free academy in The Hague. In the seventies he traveled frequently to France to study the impressionists a.o. Monet to which he felt himself attracted.

Theo Blankestijn is an impressionist "pur sang" always playing with light and dark spots. His flower compositions balance on the edge of abstraction and the colors render an optimal effect in terms of liveliness and suspense. By zooming in on details the outlines blur and a game of amalgamating colors arise on gentle water color paper.

The work of Theo Blankestijn is timeless. He is a real artisan and continues the tradition in painter art.
